AAahhhhh.. its almost 2.5 years since my last blog and am sorry guys for being so in-frequent.
I wanted to share my interesting experience with a Taxi Driver during my yesterday's taxi drive.
With the typical gyan from senior management at office, my long official day got over by 6:00 pm and I was on my way to my relative's place in western suburbs of Mumbai..
I opened my Ola app and booked a taxi, which prompto reported to me within 2 minutes of my booking. Wow!! I immediately exclaimed as i did not want to wait in the road for long.
It was a clean and neat White Ritz. Soon I entered the car, the driver (I would like to call him by his name-Durgesh rather than driver) smiled at me and welcomed. It was completely different to c the driver smiling at you when u enter the car. I was curious to know if there was something wrong and asked him what happened and why are you smiling ?? (Gosh.... how can an alien smile at you w/o getting introduced)... Durgesh replied, "Sir, its my way to welcome guest and smile gives a lot of positive energy".. I was stunned for a second and touched by his reply.
We started chatting as it was gonna be a 25 km ride through busy JVLR road and western line road.. Durgesh was very cordial in his talk and was curious in having a chat throughout the journey. We discussed on various topics starting from typical bollywood to politics to economy. That 1.5 hours trip in the crazy traffic turned out to be very pleasant for me. Finally my destination arrived and he dropped me. The app showed me a bill of Rs. 482/- . I paid the bill and durgesh parted by saying "nice meeting you sir and have a great day"......
Guys, the way Durgesh greeted, spoke and parted created a question within myself.... Just a smile and cordial words soothes you in spite of official tensions and crazy things happening around you..
What are we gonna gain by holding our smile?? Why can't we share a smile everywhere and create a positive environment around us?? I have consciously decided to greet everyone with a smile (both unknown and known).. Lets bring in the change internally, before we point others!!!!
